Domestic Affairs Agency

PLACEMENT PROCESS

When you call Domestic Affairs, we begin by creating a detailed job description, based on your unique needs and the type of person you are searching for.

We will tell you about all appropriate candidates who match your job profile. We schedule interviews at your convenience, whether at your home or office. We listen to your feedback and share input from the nanny. If you are interested in a particular applicant, we will set up a second interview or trial day.

When you are interested in hiring a candidate, we work with you in formalizing a job offer. Once accepted, we provide you with an investigative report that includes social security verification, a DMV printout, and a criminal background check. We also provide a CPR class. There is a one-week trial period for both you and your nanny before the Agency fee is due.

QUALIFICATIONS

Domestic Affairs represents candidates with at least two years of professional experience and verifiable references working in same field in which they are seeking a position. All applicants must read, write and speak English fluently, drive and be authorized to work in the U.S. legally. Our candidates are from various ethnic backgrounds, ages, experience and levels of education, which enables us to provide you with a diversity of profiles to fulfill your particular needs.

SCREENING PROCESS

Before any potential candidate comes into our office, they are prescreened on the telephone to be sure they qualify to apply.

Each candidate fills out an Agency application and must produce proper identification. Many candidates have a prepared resume and furnish letters of reference. We personally conduct a thorough interview and try to fill in all the gaps on related and non-related employment.

We check all references and provide you with a summary of what each reference reported. If there are any discrepancies between what the employer tells us and what is on the application, the candidate will not be represented by our Agency. We encourage you to check the references, as well.

Once the candidate is offered a position, we complete the process by providing you with a DMV printout, social security verification and criminal background check.

SALARIES & BENEFITS

Weekly salaries range from $500 to $1000 depending on the position, how many hours and days you require, your budget and the past salary history of the candidate. It is important to discuss all manners of payment, i.e., weekly or bi-monthly and net vs. gross before your person begins. We are there to assist you in finalizing the offer, to insure that both parties are clear on what to expect.

All of our clients provide their employees with at least six paid holidays per year and a minimum of one week's paid vacation the first year and two weeks for each additional year. Additional benefits may be health insurance and 401K plans. Any employee that is using their own car on the job should be reimbursed for gas and mileage. Additional benefits may include maintenance and car insurance.

Avoid Problems: A common reason for people leaving their jobs is not getting paid on time or not getting paid when their employer is out of town. Your employee depends on their salary every week. With our years of experience, we can suggest compromise situations and help resolve any salary issues fairly.

FEES & GUARANTEES

Domestic Affairs' placement fee is based on 13% of the employee's gross annual salary.

The first week is a trial period for both you and your employee. The employee will be paid the agreed upon salary for that week. If you choose to continue their employment, the Agency fee will be due and payable at that time. You may pay the fee by check or credit card.

Domestic Affairs offers a four-month replacement guarantee. Should your employee resign or be terminated for any reason, we will replace that person at no charge, as many times as necessary, within the four month period. Providing a replacement to our clients is a priority at our Agency.

Temporary and Baby Nurse fees are based on 25% of the total salary paid the
employee. There is a minimum fee of $100.00.
